Facial Redness & Broken Capillary
Facial Redness & Broken Capillary Treatment Sunshine Coast
Persistent facial redness, flushing and visible broken capillaries can make the skin appear constantly red, uneven or reactive, even when it otherwise feels healthy.
At That Skin Clinic in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, we offer advanced cosmetic treatments designed to reduce the appearance of facial redness, visible capillaries and vascular changes while supporting the overall health and resilience of your skin.
Using advanced IPL and laser technology, we can create a personalised treatment plan based on your skin, the type of redness present and what may be contributing to it.
What Causes Facial Redness and Broken Capillaries?
Facial redness can have many different causes.
Some people naturally have more visible superficial blood vessels, while others notice redness developing gradually due to sun exposure, environmental factors, repeated flushing, skin sensitivity or certain skin conditions.
Common concerns we see include:
- Persistent facial redness
- Visible broken capillaries
- Facial flushing
- Redness across the cheeks and nose
- Sun-related vascular changes
- Redness across the neck and décolletage
- Post-inflammatory redness
- Red vascular spots
Understanding the type of redness present is important because not all redness should be treated in the same way.
Broken Capillaries on the Face
Broken capillaries, sometimes referred to as telangiectasia or spider veins are small, visible blood vessels that commonly appear around the nose, cheeks and chin.
They can become more noticeable over time due to factors such as sun exposure, genetics, ageing and repeated dilation of superficial blood vessels.
IPL and appropriate laser technologies can be used to selectively target these visible vascular structures while minimising unnecessary treatment of the surrounding skin.
IPL For Facial Redness and Broken Capillaries
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is one of the technologies we use at That Skin Clinic for suitable vascular concerns.
IPL delivers controlled pulses of light that are absorbed by haemoglobin within visible blood vessels. This converts to heat within the targeted vessel and can gradually reduce its visible appearance.
IPL may be suitable for concerns including:
- Diffuse facial redness
- Visible facial capillaries
- Redness around the nose and cheeks
- Sun-related redness
- Redness across the neck and décolletage
- Some post-inflammatory redness
Treatment suitability depends on your skin type, medical history, medications, degree of redness and other individual factors.
What About Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that can present with persistent redness, flushing, visible blood vessels and, in some people, acne-like bumps or pustules.
Because facial redness does not automatically mean rosacea, we don't believe in treating every red face the same way.
Where appropriate, cosmetic treatments may be used to help reduce the visible vascular features associated with rosacea, but treatment does not cure the underlying condition.
If your redness is unexplained, changing, severe or suggests a condition requiring medical assessment, we may recommend seeing your GP or dermatologist before proceeding with cosmetic treatment.
What Does Vascular Treatment Feel Like?
Most IPL and vascular treatments are relatively quick.
You may experience a brief warm or snapping sensation as each pulse is delivered. Treatment comfort varies depending on the area being treated and individual sensitivity.
Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear red or feel warm. Targeted vessels can sometimes become temporarily more noticeable before gradually fading.
Your dermal therapist will explain expected responses, downtime and aftercare before treatment.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Some small, isolated vessels may respond relatively quickly, while more widespread redness or recurrent vascular concerns usually require a series of treatments.
Your recommended treatment frequency will depend on the extent and cause of your redness, your skin type and how your skin responds.
For more complex redness, we may recommend a progressive treatment plan combining IPL, laser, LED therapy, professional skin treatments and personalised home care rather than relying on a single treatment.
Our goal is not simply to make the skin look less red temporarily. We want to improve the visible concern while supporting healthier, more resilient skin over time.
Supporting Redness at Home
Professional treatment is only one part of managing redness-prone skin.
Depending on your skin, we may recommend:
- Gentle, barrier-supportive skincare
- Daily broad-spectrum SPF
- Avoiding excessive exfoliation and aggressive active ingredients
- Identifying personal flushing triggers
- Supporting hydration and barrier function
- Professional LED therapy where appropriate
Your home-care recommendations will be personalised rather than based on a one-size-fits-all routine.
